The only exception (week 8)

       The Only Exception

In a Mystical Island Province of Love, there was a girl named Jm. Jm had always been sensitive to touch even the gentlest caress could send shivers down her spine, making her withdraw from the warm embraces of her friends and family. This unique sensitivity meant that she often felt isolated, preferring instead to observe the world from a safe distance.

Jm found solace in her favorite books, where the characters embraced freely, living lives filled with adventure and romance. Yet, her world transformed when she met Kian, a boy with an infectious smile and an energy that drew her in like a moth to a flame. Kian was known as a clingy type of guy, and he liked to talk about political issues and it seemed to dance the air between them. Deep down, Jm felt a flicker of warmth whenever he was near, a warmth that stirred feelings she had thought were impossible to nurture.

Despite her avoiding physical touch, Jm found herself reciprocating Kian’s affection. He became her only exception, the one person whose closeness didn’t cause her to flinch or back away. She admired him from afar as he effortlessly charmed her with his enthusiasm for life. Yet, Kian’s intentions remained shrouded in mystery. Was he merely a friend seeking companionship, or did he feel the same spark that ignited within her?

Months passed, and Jm’s heart gradually entangled itself in a delicate web of infatuation. She imagined a future with Kian on the horizon, painted in strokes of laughter and whispered promises under starlit skies. But one gloomy afternoon, her best friend, Roselyn, delivered news that shattered her fragile dreams. “M,” she said with a concerned expression, “I saw Kian driving his car with his new girl".

The words struck Jm like a thunderbolt. It felt as though the ground had vanished beneath her feet. Kian, the boy who had ignited a warmth within her that she had thought impossible, was now an unattainable fantasy. Heartbroken, she felt as though her heart had fractured into a million pieces, each shard reflecting the love she had already given to someone who never truly belonged to her.

As time went by, Jm loved herself even more. Even though she couldn't shake thoughts of Kian, she took comfort in her connections with others and the dreams she had once put on hold. Jm came to understand that despite the pain, her heart was resilient and could heal. She made a conscious decision to open herself up to life's joys once again, albeit this time with caution.
