Twitter?

Image
The issues trending on Twitter today, social and cultural in nature, help to indicate the nature of the role this platform serves: as a space of activism and community connection. Discussions regarding Syria and Aleppo remind us of its ability to amplify voices during crises, fostering global awareness and empathy for complexities geopolitical situations pose. Meanwhile, the light buzz regarding Christmas and the hashtags of #Brokeflyday balance this weight by making merry over culture and over humor, showing how much Twitter reflects the spectrum of human experiences. In this mix of serious and merry conversations, it is worth noting that the platform uniquely unifies people in reflection and glee, making it a mirror for our interconnected world.

Not all online interactions are created equal. What aspects of CMC modalities do you think influence students' social presence in online learning? Is it the tone of voice that makes a discussion feel genuine? The frequency of participation that signals engagement? The use of video that brings a face to the name? Or maybe it's the collaborative tools that foster a sense of community? Building a social presence in virtual spaces is so important, but it can be a bit tricky! Let’s talk about the things that help or hold back connections among peers in online learning. I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or any tips you have for creating a lively social atmosphere in the comments!   #ComputerMediatedCommunication Link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DRiShsQ5x/

Grateful

https://youtu.be/xReWGPxATI0?si=yxO078IgnXrAS4oJ We always talk about our high school friends, yet nobody talks enough about the strangers from college who become our own little safe space. The closest thing you have to a family away from home, the ones you talk to every day about your academic struggles, the ones who break downs and cry with you when your schedule becomes so hectic, the ones you tell your childhood traumas and friendship wounds to, the ones who you share the same passion with, the ones you share those genuine laughs, the ones who keep you sane. The people who remind you to just keep trying and keep going and the people you survive with. I'm grateful for the college buds!
